San Francisco E-waste

The California Gold Rush made San Francisco the finance center and banking principal of the West Coast in the early part of the 20th century. At present, San Francisco enjoys having a diversified service economy with employment mostly spread in its financial, tourism and technology sectors.

Each of the city’s industries operates with the aid of modern technology while electronics equipment can also be found in every San Francisco home. When this equipment starts to age, they will have to be replaced with new ones. But what do we do with our old and outdated equipment?

E-wastes include wastes from electronic and electrical appliances like computers, mobile phones, digital music recorders and players, refrigerators, televisions and other household consumer items. In most countries including the US, E-waste management has already become an environment and health concern.

In San Francisco, the George Washington High School is organizing an electronics recycling event to help collect E-wastes that are produced in the city.
