California Leads Nation in Green Jobs
California is leading the nation in green jobs, according to a recent study by the Brookings Institution.
Almost 320,000 people in the state work jobs in areas like installing solar panels, making electric vehicles, and running organic farms and nearly 30 percent of these jobs are located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.
This may sound like great news for California, but the numbers are skewed because of the state’s massive population. The L.A. Basin and the New York City Metropolitan area may lead the country in green jobs, but they are also two of the largest populations in the United States. If you consider the number of jobs per worker, Los Angeles is only ranked 58th.
This is a step in the right direction for California, we can’t get lazy—we still need to increase the number of green jobs per capita.
