E-cycling bill fails in Utah

Lawmakers in Utah recently shot down a bill that would have established an electronics recycling law. House Bill 153 would have required electronics manufacturers to pay a fee for the recycling of covered electronics. However, the bill was voted down due to concerns about excessive regulation and the desire by lawmakers to make such a program voluntary, rather than mandatory. According to Republican Representative, who voted against the bill, if people can still throw a television in the garbage with no penalty, than this bill doesn’t solve anything. We hope that Utah residents recycle responsibly even without an e-waste law. You can read more about this topic here .
