After viewing the piece, titled “Electronic Wasteland,” which follows America’s shipment of obsolete electronics to China, Sadeghi was moved to action. After six months of research into electronics recycling, the Iran native founded All Green Electronics Recycling, with the intent of providing profitable environmentally and socially responsible electronics recycling.

All Green Electronics Recycling provides solutions for unwanted and obsolete electronics to corporations, government entities and large and small businesses throughout California and Nevada as well as on a national scale. The company’s electronics recycling plants in Sacramento and Tustin (Orange County), Calif., process a combined total of 4 million pounds per month of electronics. Much of this material comes from the collection network that All Green operates, which features more than 250 drop-off sites in California and Nevada, including a partnership with California State University campuses. The company also routinely hosts community collection events.

You can read the full article here.

New Zealand Braces for CRT Surge

news

New Zealand is switching to digital transmission in 2012 and is bracing for a surge of CRT televisions to be brought in for recycling. The government is urging businesses to expand their infrastructure for e-waste recycling with a program called “TV Take Back.”

“The falling price of new TVs, international sporting events and the national switchover to digital transmission from 2012 are all fuelling a change from older cathode ray tube sets to flat screen high definition LCD and plasma TVs,” said Environment Minister Nick Smith.

The country estimates that approximately 2.2 million CRTs will be brought in for recycling once the digital transmission goes into effect. So far, $1.4 million has been directed to a network of 35 permanent drop-off depots.

You can read more here.

Illinois Expands E-Waste Law

news

In an attempt to keep electronics out of landfills, the state of Illinois is expanding its electronics recycling law to include more items, increase recycling goals for state manufacturers, and enforce stronger penalties for those who don’t follow the law.
